Closes, foyers and stairwell safety
Keep closes, foyers and stairwells clear in the event of a fire.
An unwanted mattress or chair can encourage deliberate fire-setting. They can also block escape routes if there is a fire.
Don't dump unwanted items on the landing, the back court or on the street. Glasgow City Council collects bulk items such as beds, televisions, mattresses and fridges.
If you live in a house, you can book an uplift from the city council by phoning 0141 287 9700.
You can also request an uplift for free using the Council's My Glasgow App.
If you live in a flat, your housing officer will let you know what day the bulk uplift will be collected – and where to leave items to be picked up. Make sure you leave items at the agreed collection point.
