We want tenants to be proud of where they live and to enjoy living in safe, clean and tidy communities. Our Neighbourhood Environmental Teams (NETs) play a huge role in making this happen.

Below provides you lots of information about our NETs, including what they do, how you can get in touch to report issues in your neighbourhood and how you can get involved to help improve your community.

What services do NETs provide?
 

The NETs clean tenement closes and internal glass of tenements and multi-storey blocks each week. In the summer, staff cut back court grass areas every two weeks.

The tenement team:

  • brushes and washes stairs
  • cleans paths and bin areas.

Our teams also keep 127 multi-storey blocks clean and tidy every week.

The multi-storey team:

  • cleans foyers and lifts
  • de-litter
  • carry out patrols day and night
  • carry out landing and stair cleaning.

If you have any bulky items to be uplifted, you should contact Glasgow City Council to arrange.

How do I report issues?
 

On your My Wheatley Homes Glasgow account, you can let us know about:

  • stair cleaning
  • back court maintenance
  • and much more to help keep your neighbourhood spick and span.

Do you cut trees?
 

Our arborist team maintains trees across our properties and open spaces owned by Wheatley Homes Glasgow. This includes pruning or removing dead or diseased trees, as well as addressing trees that pose a risk to public safety or our buildings. To report a dangerous tree, please contact our Customer First Centre on 0800 479 7979.

What other services are available?
 

At any of our homes, the NETs can also:

  • clean small areas of graffiti
  • carry out weed spraying.

If you are not one of our tenants and you need help with any of the above, please get in touch with your local authority.

Do you need help with fly-tipping/waste management/bulk uplift?

It is our tenants responsibility to arrange this themselves or by contacting their local council. In some occasions our team may be able to assist , however this will be decided on a case-by-case basis.

Good neighbourhood management  is vital in promoting  how we take pride in our communities.

Get involved with the local NETs
 

There are many ways you can get involved with the local NETs.

We regularly carry out walkabouts in communities alongside our housing and Customer Voice team, to get feedback from our tenants. To find out when the next walkabout in your area is, please contact your housing officer or our Customer First Centre on 0800 479 7979.

You can be part of our Stronger Voices programme where you will have the opportunity to have your say in local services and how they are developed.

Throughout the year there will also be opportunities to join our Scrutiny Panel, which is comprised of around 25 customers from Wheatley communities across Scotland.

The Scrutiny Panel look at our key services to find areas for improvement. In 2024/25 they chose to review our existing environmental services. Find out more on our Scrutiny Panel page.

Our parent organisation, Wheatley Group, also run programmes throughout the year to support people in our communities find jobs, careers and training. Find out more.

How do I get involved to improve my community?
 

Alongside our Stronger Voices and local housing teams, we regularly take part in community walkabouts in our neighbourhoods to chat to tenants and find out how we can support them.

We also hold  two Environmental Weeks of Action each year.

Throughout the week, NETs staff tackle bulk uplift, fly tipping, upgrade community spaces and join community groups, schools and other partner organisations in litter picks, helping to improve neighbourhoods and engage with tenants.

Keep Scotland Beautiful (KSB)
 

We work with KSB to ensure the standards of our communities are as high as they can be. We have committed to an annual Environmental Quality Standards audit, through a continuous rolling programme, where different communities and local housing office areas are assessed by KSB.

As part of our 2026-2031 strategy, we will be enhancing our neighbourhood approach by developing standards informed by local priorities, customer engagement and data, with every neighbourhood achieving the Keep Scotland five-star rating.

Furniture donations
 

Our Home Comforts services take unwanted pieces of furniture, white goods and appliances, clean them and deliver them to tenants who need it most. Tenants can get access to items including beds, sofas, cookers, wardrobes and washing machines.

If you have unwanted items you’d like to donate, our NETs will come and pick these up from your home. To arrange a pick-up, get in touch with us.
