New concierge station keeps Wyndford residents connected
Tenants in Wyndford are feeling more secure and better connected thanks to a new concierge station.
The new premises, in the Gatehouse on Glenfinnan Road, is connected to each of the multi-storey blocks in the community, meaning tenants can contact the concierge team at any time direct from their home.
New CCTV and state-of-the-art video-controlled entry systems which allow tenants to see whoever is buzzing them, has also been installed in each block.
The new concierge station is part of Wheatley Homes Glasgow’s £73million transformation of Wyndford, which will see four unpopular tower blocks at 151, 171, 191, and 120 Wyndford Road demolished and hundreds of new homes built in their place.
Tenant David Somerville, from Invershin Drive, said: “The new concierge station will help people feel more secure.
“The new CCTV with the controlled entry works well and makes people feel safer because you can see who you’re letting into the building.”
Locality Housing Director Linzi Heggie added: “The new concierge station is an important part of the regeneration of Wyndford and will be a great point of contact for the community.
“The new premises will help people feel safer and more connected.
“Many of our environmental staff are familiar faces in Wyndford. They’re part of the community. People know them well and really appreciate the fantastic job they do.”
Other improvements as part of the £73m regeneration include new lighting, improved bin stores, landscaped green space and better car parking.
Almost all the tenants in the four blocks earmarked for demolition have moved to new and better homes in Wyndford or in other areas of their choice.
The blocks at 120 and 191 Wyndford Road are empty, and the blocks handed over to demolition contractor, Safedem.
Wheatley is continuing its wider consultation with the community through regular resident surveys. The Wyndford Future Focus Group, led by tenants, is working with architects on a masterplan for Wyndford.
