Local charity North United Communities is working with GHA, the Wheatley Foundation and Castlebay Tenants’ Association to offer free community meals twice a week in Milton over the summer.

As well as the free sit-down meals, North United Communities is offering food parcels on Fridays throughout the summer at the huts in Cathay Street.

Jill Mackay, Director of North United Communities, said: “There are no restaurants in Milton, and food poverty is a big issue, as is social isolation. Free community meals are so important for the people living here.”

GHA’s Karen McLaughlin added: “We always want to help people in the most difficult circumstances and we’re very happy to help North United Communities provide this vital service to people in Milton.”
