Area committees help people lead better lives
GHA is helping people grow in confidence and improve their skills.
From community groups to sporting events, GHA’s three area committees back projects which help people – especially young people – lead better lives.
In the North East, around 1000 youngsters from 24 primary schools took part in the Legacy Games at the Emirates Arena.
The event, now in its 14th year, was organised by east end charity FARE and saw young athletes compete in the 60m, long jump, javelin, shot putt and more.
Meanwhile, youngsters in Blackhill and Provanmill are getting on the airwaves.
St Paul’s youth forum, with help from the committee, runs amateur radio station Bolt FM, where young people learn about broadcasting.
The group is even planning a visit to Westminster over the summer.
In the South, the Jeely Piece Club is giving five to 12-year-olds in Priesthill and Househillwood the chance to take part in outdoor games, arts and crafts, cookery and more.
The club runs after school in the Peat Road Hall on Tuesdays and at the 50p Church on Fridays.

Youngsters in Eastwood are also enjoying a new playpark in Bonnyrigg Drive.
The playpark will be used by Eastwood Nursery as well as the local community.
The North West Area Committee also supports groups at the heart of GHA communities, including the ARC in Milton, and Linkes in Knightswood.
Lambhill Stables is running a course with YWCA called Empowering Pathways for Women to help women grow their confidence and improve their education.
The course starts on 26 September and runs on Tuesdays. For details, phone 0141 945 4100.
