The Scottish Child Payment has increased – and has been extended to include all children under 16.

The weekly payment, which helps towards the cost of supporting your family, has increased from £20 to £25 for every child you look after.

It is also now available to parents of children under 16.

To qualify, you must be the parent or guardian of a child and receive of one of the following benefits: Universal Credit, Child Tax Credit, Income Support, Pension Credit, Working Tax Credit, income-based Jobseeker's Allowance (JSA) or income-related Employment and Support Allowance (ESA).

You can apply online at www.mygov.scot or by phoning 0800 182 2222. You can also download a paper form from the website and post it out.

You'll get the payment every four weeks if your application is successful.

You can apply from today, 14 November 2022.

Make sure you don’t miss out.

If you already receive the Scottish Child Payment and your children are all under six, you don’t need to do anything – you’ll receive the payment at the new rate of £25 per child per week automatically.
