New opportunity for GHA tenant to join Board and shape services

Scotland’s largest social landlord is looking for a tenant to play a key role in shaping the future of homes and services in Glasgow’s communities.

GHA Chair Bernadette Hewitt

Glasgow Housing Association (GHA) has a vacancy for a board member to represent tenants and help further improve housing and people’s lives across the city.

GHA Chair Bernadette Hewitt said it was a great opportunity for someone living in a GHA home to influence decisions about investment in homes and neighbourhoods, contribute to future plans and scrutinise performance.

The GHA Board is made up of six tenants, including Bernadette who lives in Barmulloch. They are joined by one independent member, two Wheatley Group nominees and two Glasgow City Council elected members.

Bernadette said: “GHA is led by tenants and the six of us who sit on the Board are at the heart of making the decisions that really make a difference in communities.

“I truly believe that joining the GHA Board in 2014 has given me the chance to help make homes and lives better for thousands of people in Glasgow.

“This is a fantastic opportunity for a tenant who cares about their community and this great city to get their voice heard and help us keep doing more for tenants.

“Don’t worry if you don’t have previous experience in serving on a Board or a committee, you’ll be given lots of training and support.”
Tenants should be passionate about their community and have good communication skills. It would also help if they had a general knowledge of housing issues.

Board members are given expenses. The closing date is Friday, 10 August 2018.
